Ensemble Groups

MadriGals

The MadriGals were formed in 2007 when the Chesapeake Choral Arts Society was contacted about providing a small group to perform at the National Tree Lighting Pre Show Program on the Mall in DC.  A Group of 6 women from the choir quickly learned several a capella arrangements of well- loved traditional Christmas Carols to entertain the spectators as they await the arrival of the President of the United States and the lighting of the National Christmas Tree.  The group has continued this tradition ever since.
The MadriGals have added to their Christmas repertoire over the years doing original arrangements of Rudolph and Let It Snow (thank you W. G. Pete Stokes of the group!)  as well as international Christmas tunes and pop favorites.
We have also added several madrigals (hence our name!) to our line up and have performed for the CSM Renaissance Festival, the Kris Kringle Mart, the Christmas House Tour (Port Tobacco Courthouse – Fabulous acoustics!!), Charles County Arts Alliance Art Fest and the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs.
