Our 15th Season - 2010-2011

The Chesapeake Choral Arts Society's 2010-2011 concert season featured A Renaissance Christmas, a March Pops Concert of Broadway Extravaganza, and concluded with a June concert featuring Andrew Lloyd Webber's Requiem with a 27 piece orchestra.

For our holiday concert this season we presented A Renaissance Christmas. The first performance was on Saturday the 4th of December at the La Plata United Methodist Church in La Plata, Maryland.

The performance featured several arrangements from the 13th thru 16th centuries. Good King Wenceslas and Unto Us is Born a Son from Piae Cantiones, along with, A Babe is Born and Sir Christemas by William Matthias were just some of the selections. Several traditional carols were also perfomed: Masters in This Hall (French), The Boar's Heads Carol (English), and Deck the Hall (Welsh).

A second performance followed on Sunday the 5th of December at Our Lady Help of Christians Church in Waldorf, Maryland.


The pops concert this season was a Broadway Extravaganza. On Saturday, the 26th of March at the La Plata United Methodist Church in La Plata, Maryland, the first of two concerts was held.

Several Broadway productions were represented with songs by Rogers and Hammerstein, Lerner and Loewe, Gilbert and Sullivan, and Steven Sondheim.

We had several solos from: Susie Kapeleris, Justin McCright, Sara Cauler, Lynne Monje, Michael K. Santana, Cathy Compton, John Scheer, Patricia McConkey, Greg Kenney, Katherine Gochnour, Denise Pratt, Allen Schenck, Pat Moffat, Larry Robinson, Stephanie McCaslin, Karen Runde, Michael Mickey, Sarah Simoncini, and Jacqueline Pleasant. Along with our guest soloist, Jennifer Anne Cooper, there were also performances from Our Three Tenors and the Men's Chorus.

A second performance followed on Sunday the 27th of March at Our Lady Help of Christians Church in Waldorf, Maryland.

The spring concert performance of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Requiem finished up our 16th season. It was held on Sunday, the 12th of June at Our Lady Help of Christians Church in Waldorf, Maryland.

Along with the Chesapeake Choral Arts Society, the presentation included a 27 piece orchestra.
